Potus Forty-Five
At first glance these Shadowbox Assemblages are quite alluring. They draw the viewer in for closer inspection, a gilded frame enclosing a 24K gold leafed abstract form (coprolite). There is an intentional preciousness imparted through the use of 24K gold leaf. The metaphor is revealed though once the viewer comes to understands what's underneath all of it.

• Forty-Five • A designation for the 45th President of the United States.
• 24K Gold Leaf • Thin sheets of pure gold that are applied to surfaces with an adhesive.
• Coprolite • While commonly referred to as dinosaur dung, or dino poop, coprolite is more exactly fossilized prehistoric feces. The coprolite used in these artworks comes from the Upper Miocene Wilkes Formation Salmon Creek, Washington, USA and are not from dinosaurs, but are more likely from animals such as turtles or small mammals. Someone has even suggested that the coprolites might even be from prehistoric weasels. The Miocene period extends from about 23.03 to 5.33 million years ago.
